Custom Event Prop Builds in Norfolk for Theatre Productions
When Broadway Bella’s reached out about their upcoming production at The Players Theatre in Lowestoft, we knew this project was going to be something special. Their request? Three 6ft LED letters that would command the stage, tie into the production’s bold aesthetic, and leave the audience in awe.
This was our chance to do what we love most: transform an idea into a handcrafted, show-stopping reality.
Step One: From Render to Reality: How we Build Custom Event Props
Every build at Williams ans Rose starts with a clear vision — and in our workshop, that means digital renders using Vectric software. We mapped out every curve, every internal support, and every lighting channel where the neon LED strips would sit.
No guesswork. No templates. Just precision planning which allowed us to cut every single part on our CNC machine. Guaranteeing a perfect fit and professional finish – the foundation for any custom prop build here at Williams and Rose.
Step Two: Cutting, Assembling, and Perfecting
With the design locked in, it was time to cut. Every single piece, from the main structure to the internal supports, was CNC cut for strength and a perfect fit.
We assembled the frames in our Norfolk workshop, double-checking every joint and connection. These letters weren’t just props — they had to be sturdy enough to travel, be installed, and shine under stage lighting night after night.
And yes, there was a lot of sawdust, a lot of coffee, and maybe a few “step back and admire it” moments.
Step Three: Lighting That Steals the Show
The heart of this build was the LED lighting. Each strip was measured, cut, soldered, and installed by David — our resident qualified electrician.
This wasn’t just about making the letters light up. It was about achieving a perfectly even glow with clean wiring and professional finishes, so the only thing the audience sees is the drama of the stage.
Step Four: Counterweighting for Stage Safety
These letters were designed to stand on a raised platform, stability was critical.
Each one was mounted on a thin base, which was weighted at the back and secured using steel lines for added stability. This combination kept the letters rock-solid throughout rehearsals and performances, ensuring they could safely share the stage with the cast without a single wobble.
When it comes to custom stage builds, safety and reliability are just as important as style — and this project proved both can shine equally.
Step Five: Showtime
Once the final polish was done, we delivered the SIX letters to The Players Theatre. Seeing them installed and lit for the first time under the stage lights? Unbelievable a real “pinch-me” moment.
And when the curtain went up, they didn’t just sit in the background — they became part of the performance. Proving why custom event builds make such a powerful impact
