Client Brief: Fire engine-obsessed 4-year-old. Big imagination. Big impact.

At Williams & Rose, we don’t just deliver props — we design experiences. And when we were asked to help bring a fire service theme to life for a special 4th birthday celebration, we couldn’t wait to get creative.
🔥 The Concept
It began with a clear vision: a fire engine-themed party full of fun, colour, and interactive elements. We wanted to create an immersive experience — one that sparked imagination, excited every guest (regardless of age), and gave the birthday boy a day to remember.
So, we built a journey from the moment guests stepped through the gate — transforming the entire garden into a firefighter’s dream.
🚪 The Entrance: Start with a Statement
First impressions matter — and this one made sparks fly!
Guests were welcomed with our custom built fire engine entrance sign, complete with the playful message:
“Stop, Drop and Roll on In.”
Crafted in-house and finished in vibrant red, this bold piece instantly set the tone for the day — and of course, doubled up as the perfect photo spot.
🧯The Walkway: Gear Up for Adventure
As guests moved down the side of the house, they reached our custom sailboard station:
“Grab Your Gear” — complete with mounted red firefighter helmets for each child to collect and wear.
This small detail brought big smiles and helped everyone feel like part of the action.
🚒 The Garden: A World of Firefighter Fun
Once they stepped into the garden, the real magic began:
- Oversized Flame Cut-Out – A fiery visual that added drama and made photos pop.
- Interactive Fire Engine – A second custom build, this time with buttons that played sirens, horns, and even the Fireman Sam theme. A huge hit with the little ones!
- Flame-Covered Number 4 – Built from red, orange and yellow cellophane to give a blaze effect, flanked by a balloon explosion from the garden room.
🎯 The Games & Activities
We designed entertainment for every age group:
- Cornhole boards for the grown-ups
- Burning Building Bean Bag Toss – Knock down the flames and save the day
- Obstacle Course with Flaming Hoops – For energetic little heroes
- Firefighter-Themed Tuff Tray – Filled with coloured rice, mini engines, and scoops for the little ones to explore
🧁 The Final Stop: Refuel at the Table
At the end of the fire-fighting fun was a low-level kids’ table, beautifully styled and set up for party food, birthday cake, and some well-earned rest. Bright colours, and little finishing touches pulled everything together.
🎉 The Result?
One ecstatic birthday boy, and a party full of moments that will be remembered forever.
